outline: This year's Optoelectronics Expo features a dedicated "Light + AI" exhibition zone, closely aligned with the theme of "Optoelectronics Building the Core Foundation for AI, and AI Empowering Diverse Applications of Optoelectronics," showcasing globally pioneering and nationally leading achievements in the integration of optoelectronic information and AI. The event attracted 78,000 professional visitors from over 80 countries and regions—a 13% increase compared to the previous edition—with 1,397 international attendees, both figures setting new historical records. Hubei is committed to achieving its goal of establishing a world-class optoelectronic information industry cluster by refining the "Chain Leader + Chain Master + Chain Innovation" mechanism and fully advancing the transformation of "China Optics Valley" into a "World Optics Valley."

The current Optics Expo, themed "Light Connecting All Things, Intelligence Guiding the Future," highlights the deep integration of "Light + AI" as its central feature. The event launched a simultaneous call for "first-ever innovations and exhibitions," receiving over 200 submissions, with more than ten groundbreaking achievements unveiled on opening day—including the world's first 6.4T silicon photonic single-mode NPO module designed for AI computing clusters, colloidal quantum dot short-wave infrared imaging modules, and FiberHome Technologies' domestically developed ultra-high-density optical cable featuring 13,824 cores per cable. A dedicated "Light + AI" exhibition zone was established, along with the inaugural "China-Vietnam Optoelectronics Industry Cooperation Day," which is expected to facilitate over 100 cross-border collaboration agreements. Covering approximately 20,000 square meters, the expo attracted international exhibitors from 11 countries and regions, with delegations from ten major international organizations in attendance. Concurrent events included the "Light + AI" Application Conference and over 300 targeted business matchmaking sessions. Since its inception in 2002, the Optics Expo has become a premier global platform for exchange and cooperation in the optoelectronics industry.

Understanding Birefringent Crystals: Key Insights for Optoelectronic Applications

outline: Birefringent crystals are materials characterized by their unique optical properties, specifically their ability to refract light differently depending on the polarization and direction of the light wave. This phenomenon occurs due to the anisotropic nature of the crystal structure, leading to two distinct refractive indices: one for the electric field oriented parallel to the optical axis and ano
